Batman 220 – Marla Manning debuts

Robbins, Novick and Giordano put a new woman into Bruce Wayne’s life in Batman 220 (March 1970).

Marla Manning is a newspaper columnist, whose “Victims Anonymous” column was the inspiration for Bruce Wayne’s Victim Incorporated program.

The story itself deals with death threats made against Manning after she writes a column about an unsolved murder, linking the crime to a demolitions company.

Once again Robbin crafts a taut thriller, with some excellent scenes.  The cover scene is the highpoint of the tale, and the climax sees Batman use a tape recording to disorient the killer.
